Question

How do you help the EU promote LGBTI equality on the ground?

Answer

Create a branded communications toolbox for EU Representations across Europe.

47% of LGBTI people in Europe face discrimination or harassment simply because of who they are or who they love. There is no place for such intolerance in our society. The European Commission promotes LGBTI equality across the EU and turned to Tipik to develop a toolbox for its people on the ground, the EU Representations, to further this agenda.

37 Representations received a branded toolbox with a factsheet, tailor-made presentations for the 28 countries, a social media toolkit, as well as promotional items such as wrist wraps, a rainbow flag, pins, temporary tattoos and a themed USB stick. A further 41 toolboxes were put together for Commission departments and stakeholders.

We provided more than good communications tools. Our team drafted an in-depth report analysing the situation faced by the LGBTI community in each country. It identified obstacles, communication opportunities and events, such as Pride, that enable the Representations to get the most out of the toolbox by communicating in the right way at the right time.

Our events team were also on hand to help Representations in Italy and Poland ‘Raise the rainbow flag’ helping with logistics and providing on-site assistance for a meeting and debate in Italy and an event for the public with speakers and street entertainment in Poland.

The work received an ‘Excellence in Communications’ award from the European Ombudsman (Good Administration awards 2018/2019).
