Question

How do you spread the word about new data protection rights?

Answer

Take to the streets with a campaign on public transport.

The EU’s new data protection law, the GDPR, gives people new rights over their personal data. With these new rights comes power and more control over information shared when shopping or surfing online. But power is useless if people don’t know they have it. Our mission: take the message to the city streets so that Greeks know their rights and can take control of their data.

We designed ads for trams, metros and trains running on three lines of the Athens public transport network. The month-long campaign targets commuters and ordinary Athenians travelling on a network that carries 1 million people a day. Eight key rights are showcased inside and outside the carriages. Traffic jams and commutes are now a place for learning about new rights in a digital world.

This project is an extension of an earlier EU-wide GDPR campaign we ran for the European Commission on social media and in print.
